The Branch County Community Foundation (BCCF) Board and Staff spread the love this Valentine’s Day by dropping off donations to some of our local community organizations.
Valentine’s Day offers the perfect opportunity for giving back to the communities we love. In prior years, BCCF held a Valentine’s Day campaign where anyone could give a gift to the Foundation in honor of their Valentine or someone they cared about. Giving to the foundation is always an option, but last year we asked ourselves, “why not dedicate Valentine’s Day to giving, instead of asking?”
In 2022, we decided we were going to switch gears and use the holiday of love to give back to the community. For the start of our new outlook on Valentine’s Day, BCCF staff and Youth Advisory Council members teamed up to send a Valentine’s (with a sucker and a note of appreciation) to all students in Middle School and High School in BCCF's service area. It was a wonderful success and a super fun way to let our youth know that we care about them!
This year, we decided to focus on the nonprofit organizations that give back so much to our communities, so we purchased items to donate to some of those organizations. BCCF staff and board members spent some time last week delivering the donation items to 6 local organizations, including Animal Aid of Branch County, Branch County Literacy Council, Coach Eby Youth and Family Center, Colon Food Pantry, Family Promise, and Tommy’s House.
There are so many ways to spread love on Valentine’s Day, but we encourage you to consider giving back to your local organizations that care so much about Branch County and Colon. Each of the 6 organizations we donated to provided us with a “wish list” of items that they are in most need of. We have listed those items below in case our donors and community members would like to give back this Valentine’s Day too!
